Chogiwa – BOICE around the world are super excited with CNBlue comeback this November 17th, 2020 with their 8th mini-album entitled “Re-Code” and title track Then, Now and Forever. Though unfortunately, this comeback is going to be their first comeback without Jonghyun, still fans always give them all the supports.
Anyway, CNBlue is not only well known for their musical talents because each member could play musical instruments and sing but they are also well known to be excellent actors. Their comeback this month will be a big mark for more drama projects of CNBlue members. Before they start filling our watching list, let’s flashback with some hit list of the drama starring CNBLue members that you should have watched.
#1 You’re Beautiful (2009)

You’re Beautiful is the first drama on the list of the drama starring CNBLue members. It is a drama from a decade ago starring some famous actors, actresses, and musicians such as Park Shin Hye, Jang Keun Suk, Lee Hong Ki, Uee, and Jong Yong Hwa. This drama is about Ko Mi Nyeo (Park Shin Hye) due to some circumstances should impersonate her brother and joins a famous group band A.N.JELL.
Yong Hwa as Kang Shin Woo is the first one who discovers her secret and tries to help Mi Nyeo without her knowing. In the process, he also develops a feeling toward her, though of course as a second lead male, he won’t be able to win the lead actress’s heart.
#2 Heartstrings (2011)

Two years later after You’re Beautiful, Heartstrings became the reunion drama of Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa. Not only Yong Hwa, but Kang Min Hyuk also took the role of Yeo Joon Hee in this drama.
This is a musical drama where you could enjoy a lot of good songs and music. Yong Hwa and Min Hyuk sang the original soundtracks for this drama and even Yong Hwa contributed to produce the music for Because I Miss You.
#3 Gentleman’s Dignity (2012)

Gentleman’s Dignity is one of the highly recommended dramas starring Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ha Neul. Lee Jong Hyun took the role of Colin in this drama, son of Kim Do Jin (Jang Dong Gun).
Jong Hyun is probably just a supporting role in this drama but as his fans, you could enjoy his voice singing My Love, the song written and produced by Lee Jong Hyun himself.
This song became one of the popular songs and received Best OST in several awards such as Korean Drama Awards, Mnet Asian Music Awards, Melon Music Awards, and also from Seoul Music Awards in 2013.
In this drama, Jung Yong Hwa also appeared as a cameo where he acted as himself, a famous singer who happened to be the former student of Seo Yi Soo (Kim Ha Neul).
#4 Marry Him If You Dare (2013)

The next drama on the list of the drama starring CNBLue members is Marry Him If YOu Dare. One of the unique things about Korean Drama is a term well known as “Second Lead Syndrome”, a condition when viewers prefer the lead actress to end with the second lead actor.
Well, just like in You’re Beautiful, Jung Yong Hwa took a similar role in this drama and he really succeeds as the trigger of this syndrome. Jung Yong Hwa as Park Se Joo works as a cameraman in a network company. Though the fact is he is not only a regular cameraman because his true identity is actually the CEO’s grandson who will inherit the company one day.
#5 The Heirs (2013)

In 2013, The Heirs is one of the hit dramas starring famous actors and actresses such as Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin, Kim Ji Won, Park Hyung Sik, and Kang Ha Neul.
In this drama, Kang Min Hyuk took the role of Yoon Chan Young, a son of Jeguk Group’s secretary, and a boyfriend of Lee Bo Na (Krystal Jung).
Aside from the love story among the main characters, the love story of Chan Young and Bo Na is one of the phenomenal one and totally worth watching. Both of them are really cute in this drama.
Initially, Yong Hwa also been offered one of the supporting roles but he dropped it out.
#6 The Three Musketeers (2014)

If you think Yong Hwa is only capable of doing serious character then you should watch The Three Musketeers. This drama is inspired by a famous novel by Alexandre Dumas with the same title. Jung Yong Hwa as Park Dal Hyang is just an ordinary man who somehow gets involved with two warriors, Heo Sung Po (Yang Dong Geun) and An Min Seo (Jung Hae In) to protect the Crown Prince Sohyeon (Lee Jin Wook).
#7 Orange Marmalade (2015)

Orange Marmalade is a drama adapted from a webtoon with the same title. It is a fantasy drama about how vampires should hide their identity so they could live peacefully among humans.
Bae Ma Ri (Kim Seolhyun) is a vampire who has a dream to live peacefully and settle down in one place. However, a problem started when she accidently kisses the neck of Jung Jae Min (Yeo Jin Goo), a popular boy at school, and falls in love with him.
Han Si Hoo (Lee Jong Hyun) is also a vampire and a childhood friend of Ma Ri. He has a feeling toward her that makes him involves in the love triangle between Ma Ari and Jae Min.
#8 Entertainers (2016)

Entertainers is one of must watching dramas starring CNBLue members. This drama is about a successful music director Shin Suk Ho (Ji Sung) from a big company who decided to start his own company but then lost everything.
He met a talented high school student Jo Ha Neul (Kang Min Hyuk) and determined to turn him into a successful musician. In the process, he met more talented people but with different backgrounds (some of them with dark past, including Jo Ha Neul) and formed a group band Entertainer Band.
However, together with Jung Geu Rin (Lee Hye Ri) Ha Neul’s sister, they could successfully bring the band to become famous.
#9 Cinderella and the Four Knights (2016)

In this drama, Lee Jung Shin took the role of Kang Seo Woo, one character among the four knights around Cinderella or Eun Ha Won (Park So Dam). Seo Woo is a lovable character and very sweet, he is a popular star, singer, and songwriter (which is literally himself in real life).
Initially, he has developed a feeling toward Ha Won but then he decided to give up when he found out about the relationship between Ha Won and Ji Woon. However, though Seo Woo didn’t get his first love. However, at the end of the drama, it is clearly hinted that Seo Woo finally found the love of his life, a girl named Hong Ja Yeong (Cho Hye Jung) who happens to be Ha Won’s best friend.
#10 The Package (2017)

The Package is one of the memorable dramas about a group of people who start finding their true selves through traveling. Each of the cast in this drama has its own stories including San Ma Roo (Jong Yong Hwa). He supposed to go on traveling with his fiancé but right before the time, he was dumbed but still, he decided to continue the plan. During traveling he learns a lot of things from people around him and of course from his travel guide Yoon So So (Lee Yeon Hee).
#11 My Only Love Song (2017)

My Only Love Song is a Netflix drama starring Lee Jong Hyun and Gong Seung Yeon. It is a reunion project of both of them after the reality show We Got Married.
Jong Hyun acted as On Dal, a man who will do everything for money but inside he is a man with a soft spot if seeing someone in need. The drama is a rom-com type of drama but with a fantasy touch because it involves a time travel theme in where actress Soo Jung (Gong Seung Yeon) accidentally falls into a time portal and travels backed to the Goguryeo era in the 6th Century when he met On Dal.
#12 Girls’ Generation 1979 (2017)

Girl’s Generation 1979 is a good drama with only 8 episodes but the story plot is really good. The story started when there is a new student Jung Hye Joo (Chae Seo Jin) moved to Daegu and entered the same school as Lee Jung Hee (Bona). All of the sudden, all boys in the neighborhood paid more attention to Hye Joo, since she is really beautiful, smart, and sweet. Jung Hee got jealous of her, especially when the boy she likes also interested in her.
However, despite all the attention, Hye Joo started developing a feeling toward Joo Young Choon (Lee Jong Hyun) a former gangster who turned out to be a good and kind-hearted guy who is capable of doing handyworks. In the end, Jung Hee and Hye Joo became best friends.
#13 Hospital Ship (2017)

Hospital Ship is the last drama project of Kang Min Hyuk before his enlistment in the military. This drama is about a group of doctors who provide service for people living in remote islands through a hospital ship.
Kang Min Hyuk as Kwak Hyun is a physician who volunteers as public health doctor so he shouldn’t serve in the military while Song Eun Jae (Ha Ji Won) is a great surgeon who was forced to work in the hospital ship because she was treated unfairly in the hospital where she had been working really hard.
However, in the Hospital Ship, each doctor finds peace and their own great story to tell. This is one of the highly recommended dramas starring CNBLue members you should watch.
#14 My Sassy Girl (2017)

My Sassy Girl is a drama starring Joo Won and Oh Yeon Seo. It is a rom-com drama about Princess Hyemyeong and cold-hearted scholar Gyun Woo. Lee Jung Shin as Kang Joon Young acted as an inspector at the police bureau. He is really loyal to Princes Hyemyeong and always by her side to protect her.
#15 That Man Oh Soo (2018)

One of the highly recommended dramas starring Kim So Eun as Seo Yoo Ri and Lee Jong Hyun as Oh Soo; a successful IT engineer who prefers to run a café as a barista due to the unique power he inherits from his ancestor. He has the power to create magical pollen that could be used as ‘cupid’ in a cup of coffee.
Unfortunately, the pollen cannot be used by those who have the power of the creation, and he accidentally uses it on the woman he falls in love with, so the drama has a twisted ending but still worth watching.
In this drama, fans were satisfied with the cool but cute acting of Jong Hyun. In some scenes, he also shows his talents off as CNBlue’s guitarist by playing guitar for Yoo Ri, speaking Japanese to impress the girl, and using his fists (he used to be a professional taekwondo athlete) to protect Yoo Ri.
#16 My First Love (2018)

This drama is like a dream that comes true for most people and Lee Jung Shin as Kang Shin Woo is a math teacher who has a chance to come back to the past. In the past, he meets the younger version of himself and helps the younger version of himself get his first love. It is only a short 8 episodes but it is a heart-warming drama with a lovable story plot. A totally highly recommended drama.
Actually, there are more dramas and also movies starring CNBlue members such as Ikiru Machi, a Japanese movie starring Lee Jong Hyun, The Princess and Matchmaker movie starring Kang Min Hyuk, dramas Temptation, The Blade and Petal, and Seo-Young, My Daughter starring Lee Jung Shin, movie Acoustic starring both Lee Jong Hyun and Kang Min Hyuk. Those dramas and movies are worth watching but the list of dramas starring CNblue members mentioned above are some that are the most recommended.
